Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov on Tuesday praised the intensifying bilateral relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan, emphasising successful political dialogue, mutual support for sovereignty, and continued high-level cooperation across Government bodies.
Speaking during an official visit to Georgia, Bayramov reaffirmed the strategic nature of relations between the two neighbouring countries, underscoring the positive political momentum following Georgia’s recent parliamentary elections and noted the high frequency of reciprocal visits and institutional cooperation between the two states.
“I would like to express great gratitude to Madam Minister [Maka Botchorishvilli] and the Georgian side for the invitation and hospitality. The dynamics and intensity of meetings between our delegations are very gratifying. My visit to Georgia took place in June last year, and the Madam Minister’s visit to Baku took place in January this year. We are here in Georgia again, and we hope this dynamic will continue in the coming months”, the Minister said.
“Today, we had a one-on-one meeting as well as an expanded format meeting. During both meetings, we discussed the friendly, good-neighborly relations and strategic partnership between our two countries. The high-level political dialogue, as already noted, reflects the centuries-long good-neighborly relations between our countries, which continue within the framework of international legal norms and standards”, Bayramov continued.
The FM further highlighted the ongoing cooperation in international platforms, where both countries consistently support each other’s territorial integrity.
“Madam Minister has already noted that Azerbaijan and Georgia always support each other’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, both in bilateral formats and in all international formats. I am pleased that there is a very sincere and intensive relationship between our leaders, with good dynamics in the context of high-level meetings. We are pleased that last year’s parliamentary elections in Georgia were completed with great success. The first visit of Georgia’s Prime Minister to Azerbaijan after the elections and the first visit of Georgia’s President [Mikheil Kavelashvili] to Azerbaijan in April this year further confirm the relations and mutual respect, as well as the friendly ties between our countries. The same intensive dialogue exists between our various ministries and parliaments. A very exemplary cooperation is ongoing between our parliaments”, Bayramov concluded.
