The Georgian Foreign Ministry on Saturday said that seventeen Georgian citizens who had been detained in a deportation facility in Israel had safely returned to Georgia.
The Ministry confirmed that the Georgian Government, in close coordination with Israeli authorities, facilitated the prompt repatriation of its citizens.
The return was organised under emergency conditions due to ongoing regional instability.
“The Georgian side, in close coordination with the relevant Israeli authorities, ensured the safe return of Georgian citizens to their homeland in the shortest possible time. Due to the current situation, the Embassy of Georgia in Israel continues to operate in emergency mode. A hotline has been activated for Georgian citizens, and to date, the Embassy has provided consultation and necessary assistance to more than 500 Georgian citizens. It is noteworthy that individuals in Israel who wish to leave the country have the option to do so via land routes, either through the Israel-Jordan border checkpoint or the Israel-Egypt border checkpoint (Taba). Citizens wishing to leave by land must carry a valid Georgian passport. In light of recent events, approximately 1,000 Georgian citizens have left Israel via land routes”, the statement said.
