Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Wednesday said the Government's primary interest was ensuring stability and peace in the region, which would create opportunities for economic development and a better life for its citizens.
Speaking to journalists, Botchorishvili also noted that normalising relations with Georgia was in the interest of the European Union itself, highlighting the country's role as a significant partner to both the EU and the United States.
“Georgia’s sole interest is to maintain stability, peace, and create opportunities for economic development in our region, so we can offer a better quality of life to our citizens. Only based on this foundation will it be possible to achieve Georgia’s strategic objectives, which are directly linked to integration into the European Union”, the FM said.
“Normalising relations with Georgia is undoubtedly in the EU’s own interest. Georgia is an important partner not only for the European Union but also for the United States. It is crucial that our relations are based on mutual respect and guided by an understanding of each other’s interests”, she concluded.
