Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Wednesday said the Georgian Government aimed to build a more substantive relationship with the United States based on mutual respect and shared interests.
In her remarks, Botchorishvili noted that the current political climate, particularly under the Trump administration, was providing a real opportunity to enhance bilateral relations.
“Georgia places great importance on its relations with the United States, and we are not satisfied with the current state of those ties. Our message is clear: Georgia wants a relationship that is meaningful and aligned with the interests of both countries. Above all, it should be grounded in mutual respect”, the FM said.
Botchorshvili also noted that Georgia’s newly appointed Ambassador to the United States would carry out her duties in full alignment with the country's national interests. She further emphasised that the Georgian Government was expecting the US to approach the relationship in a results-oriented manner.
