Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Thursday gave an interview to American political activist Jack Posobiec on the sidelines of the Conservative Political Action Conference in Budapest.
In her response to Posobiec’s question why she came to Conservative Political Action Conference now, Botchorishvili noted that the conference was the best venue to show that Georgia was ready to fight for values that needed to be defended.
“I think that’s the best venue to show that we are ready to fight for values that need to be defended, because that’s very important today. Values that are Christian, values that are shared widely and are under attack under the name of “liberals” very much in today’s Europe and not only in Europe. And we see that it is very much related to security, stability and it’s very much related to defending democracy as well”, the Foreign Minister said.

Posobiec responded to her that sovereignty versus globalism seemed to have been the biggest story.
“There’s a paradox here, an irony where in order to, for those freedom fighters, for those sovereigntists, people who respect their culture, their heritage, their national identity, we are faced constantly under threat from Brussels, from Davos, from the party that supports war, the party that supports all of them having open borders”, Posobiec added.
Botchorishvili highlighted that sovereignty was essential to protect national interests and national interests could protect peace and security.
“Georgia is a very good example. It’s good to see and we are happy to see that we are not alone and there are people who also share the views that sovereign rights of nations need to be respected and sovereign rights are not bad and sovereign rights can also be global”, she concluded.
