Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Thursday said that Georgia and Hungary were fully aligned in their fight to protect national sovereignty.
In her remarks, Botchorishvili highlighted it was particularly important that the new US administration was also sharing the same values, noting efforts to strengthen US-Europe unity in defending sovereignty and fundamental rights.
“We share the same struggle with Hungary and Viktor Orbán. When we talk about that fight, it’s impossible not to mention the bureaucratic machinery that often opposes the very values on which national sovereignty is built”, she said.
Botchorishvili stressed the significance of CPAC as a platform initiated by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in Europe, which she noted had grown notably in recent years.
“We see how this platform is expanding. A new political group has emerged in the European Parliament that is large in numbers and clearly demonstrates the importance of this movement and the public support it enjoys. We also observe the intense pushback it faces”, she added.
The Minister emphasised that these developments were especially important “as the new US administration embraces the same values”, adding that major efforts were being made to foster unity between US and European forces defending sovereignty and fundamental rights.
