Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Thursday said the recent developments concerning Georgia were the best example of how strong the deep state was, and how intense this struggle was.
Botchorishvili’s comments followed a recent statement by the United States Embassy in Georgia, which noted that Bidzina Ivanishvili, the founder of the ruling Georgian Dream party, had refused to meet with the United States Ambassador.
“What is generally happening in relation to Georgia can be assessed, in a way, as the best example of how strong the so-called deep state is, as they say, and how strong this fight is, how evident it is in relation to Georgia”, the Foreign Minister said.
“On one hand, we saw President Trump’s congratulatory message to the President of Georgia. On the other hand, there were responses to that message, and we witnessed how those were perceived - particularly how Bidzina Ivanishvili himself interprets this attitude. This is a vivid representation of the struggle we are talking about”, she concluded.
