On the occasion of Georgia’s Independence Day, the United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Monday extended warm greetings to the Georgian people, emphasising the long-standing friendship and shared democratic values that unite the two countries.
The message, delivered on behalf of the United States, highlighted the shared values of democracy, sovereignty, and the collective pursuit of a brighter future as the bedrock of this enduring relationship.
“On behalf of the United States of America, I extend my greetings to the people of Georgia on this national day. On this day, we celebrate the strength and resilience of the Georgian people and our enduring bonds. The Georgian people’s love of and commitment to freedom and independence is inspiring. The United States remains committed to a partnership in line with Georgia’s aspirations for a secure and prosperous future”, Rubio said.
Georgia's Independence Day is celebrated annually on May 26. This date commemorates the adoption of the Act of Independence on May 26, 1918, when the Democratic Republic of Georgia was established following the collapse of the Russian Empire. The Act declared Georgia's independence, marking a significant moment in the nation's history.
