Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Thursday emphasised the significance of Georgia’s relationship and strategic partnership with the United States, noting that Georgia had repeatedly demonstrated its commitment to standing alongside US interests.
In her interview with Imed TV, Botchorishvili underlined Georgia’s steadfast support for US positions on matters of war and peace.
“For decades, Georgia and the United States have enjoyed a very close relationship and a strategic partnership. Georgia has consistently taken actions that fully align with US interests - even in regions where we had no direct national interest of our own. Our sole national objective in such cases was to support America's strategic priorities. For instance, Georgian troops participated in various NATO-led missions and operations, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the US”, the FM said.
“On the international stage, when the United States announced its positions regarding war and peace, Georgia was the first - and at that time the only - country to offer its unconditional support. This stance is fully aligned with our national interest. Naturally, we stand for peace - we want peace in our country and in our region”, she concluded.
