Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Wednesday said that despite facing significant security challenges over the past decade, Georgia had successfully established itself as a leader in the region across various sectors, particularly as a result of reforms undertaken as part of its European integration process.
In her address to the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers, Botchorishvili noted that these achievements were reflected in international rankings and confirmed by decisions of the European Court of Human Rights.
“We have strengthened the rule of law, established high standards of human rights protection, and created effective mechanisms to combat corruption”, the FM stressed.
“Despite this visible progress, the unfair treatment and double standards we face from our partners are concerning and damage trust. International institutions should encourage constructive cooperation based on mutual respect and prevent their politicisation”, Botchorishvili concluded.
