Zhou Qian, the Chinese Ambassador to Georgia, on Saturday emphasised China’s consistent respect for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, highlighting community-focused projects and growing interregional cooperation as hallmarks of the bilateral relationship.
In his interview with Imedi TV, Zhou described China and Georgia’s relationship as a “traditionally friendly partnership” spanning more than three decades of diplomatic ties.
“I have recently visited the Shida Kartli region and attended the opening ceremony of the two village football fields built with China’s support for communities affected by the conflict. China and Georgia share a traditionally friendly partnership. More than 30 years have passed since the establishment of diplomatic relations. China has always respected Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity”, the Ambassador said.
Zhou also pointed to expanding interregional cooperation as a vital area for growth.
“In the future, China is ready to support the Georgian people through specific actions and to contribute to Georgia’s social development through ‘small but important’ projects. China is a vast country, with each region having its own unique economic and cultural characteristics. For example, Sichuan Province has an economy comparable to that of Switzerland”, he continued.
“The Chinese Embassy stands ready to promote deeper regional cooperation and achieve practical, impactful results”, Zhou concluded.
