Levan Zhorzholiani, the Head of the Georgian Government Administration, on Friday presented the Government's key priorities to United Nations agencies, which would be reflected in the upcoming Georgia-UN Cooperation Framework for 2026-2030.
The meeting brought together representatives from Georgian state institutions and UN agencies to discuss directions for sustainable development cooperation.
Zhorzholiani noted that the Georgian Government had two main priorities when it came to collaboration with the UN - advancing the country’s economic growth and supporting the UN's work in the Russian-occupied territories of Georgia.
“We discussed key aspects, priorities, and directions of Georgia-UN cooperation over the next five years. Two areas are particularly important for us: the UN’s work in the occupied territories and economic growth, which must be green and inclusive. It is important that the country’s wealth be distributed equally across both rural and urban areas. We also discussed other priorities that, in the coming years, will form the foundation of the action plans for all UN agencies and the relevant ministries”, the Head of the Government Administration said.
Didier Trebucq, the UN Resident Coordinator in Georgia, also addressed the meeting participants.
He stated that the UN representation was conducting consultations with partner institutions in Georgia to jointly define priorities and determine what should be a focus for the UN in the next five years in the country.
