Feridun Sinirlioğlu, the Secretary General of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe, currently visiting Georgia, on Tuesday said the organisation was committed to strengthening the country's security in all aspects and through all means available to the body.
In his remarks following the meeting with the Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili, Sinirlioğlu emphasized the importance of dialogue, especially in regions and between countries that were in a state of conflict.
“I would like to emphasize that the OSCE is quite interested and we support Georgia, all the countries of this [South Caucasus] region. The Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism, which has now been operational for 16 years, is a clear example of our ongoing commitment. The OSCE is an organisation that has proven how important it is to conduct dialogue, especially in those regions and between countries that are in a state of conflict. We have multilateral means of mediation, which we use in such cases and we are constantly trying to get involved in the regulation of conflicts”, Sinirlioğlu said.
He further highlighted that stability in Georgia was vitally important for the Georgian people, as well as for the interests of the entire South Caucasus region, for establishing security and stability.
“In such a case, we have been working with Georgia for decades. I would like to emphasize once again that we want to prove to Georgia that we are committed to engaging in strengthening security in Georgia in every way, with all the means that our organization has”, Sinirlioğlu concluded.
