Relations between Georgia and Montenegro, shared priorities regarding European integration, ongoing reform agendas in both countries, and importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation were discussed on Tuesday in a meeting between the Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili and Mirsad Azemović, the Minister of Diaspora of Montenegro.
The officials discussed the goals of state policy concerning diaspora affairs, the Georgian Foreign Ministry said.
It was emphasised that one of the top priorities of the Georgian Government was to ensure the involvement of the diaspora in the country's development process, to strengthen the relationship between the state and the Georgian diaspora, and to encourage compatriots to use their potential - knowledge and qualifications - to promote Georgia abroad.
The meeting also focused on innovative state programs related to the diaspora, aimed at fostering stronger connections with Georgians living abroad.
Azemović, in turn, presented an overview of Montenegro’s state policy on diaspora issues, the challenges it faces, and underscored the importance of learning from Georgia’s experience.
The parties agreed to cooperate more closely on effective diaspora engagement and to actively work together on these issues within all relevant international platforms.
