Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Wednesday underscored the importance of deepening bilateral relations with Austria and expressed gratitude for Austria’s unwavering support for Georgia’s territorial integrity during a joint press conference with her Austrian counterpart Beate Meinl-Reisinger.
In her remarks, Botchorishvili emphasised the strong cooperation between the two nations while highlighting opportunities to further strengthen economic and diplomatic ties.
“We have strong cooperation, but there is always room to strengthen and enhance our bilateral relations. We deeply appreciate your support for Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty”, Botchorishvili noted.
The Georgian FM stressed that Austria remained a key partner for the country, particularly in economic collaboration and diplomatic support.
“We had a great opportunity to discuss bilateral relations between Austria and Georgia, which are very important to us. We enjoy strong cooperation, but there is always the potential to further enhance and improve our ties. Our economic relations are very positive, and we are ready to work even more actively to expand collaboration between business communities and economic actors in both countries. Strengthening these ties is crucial for our bilateral relations”, she continued.
Botchorishvili further reaffirmed that Georgia valued Austria’s continued backing in defending its territorial integrity against the ongoing Russian occupation.
“We deeply appreciate Austria’s support for Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. The main challenge Georgia faces is the occupation of two of our regions - Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region - by Russia. We are sincerely grateful to our partners who stand by Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. It is truly crucial for a country to make a sovereign choice and for this choice to be supported – we especially value your support in this regard”, she concluded.
