Irakli Mezurnishvili, an MP from the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Wednesday highlighted the significance of the establishment of direct flights between Belgrade and Tbilisi, stating that the development would boost tourism and strengthen economic relations between the two nations.
In his remarks with Imedi TV, Mezurnishvili noted that the Georgian parliamentary delegation had engaged in discussions with Serbian officials across multiple sectors, including defence, education, and economy.
“We met with our counterparts from defence and education sectors, as well as we held meetings on economic matters. There were also intensive discussions regarding economic cooperation. Additionally, it is very important that direct flights from Belgrade to Tbilisi will be launched soon, which will contribute to the development of tourism”, the official said.
“A particularly significant meeting took place with the Chair of the Defence Committee, where we exchanged updates on the current situation in Georgia and Serbia”, Mezurnishvili noted.
The visit underscores the commitment of both Georgia and Serbia to fostering stronger parliamentary and diplomatic ties, as well as exploring opportunities for enhanced cooperation in various sectors, including economy, defence, and tourism.
