In an exclusive interview with China Global Television Network (CGTN), Irakli Mezurnishvili, the First Deputy Chair of the Georgian Parliament Committee for Economy, discussed the rapid expansion of China-Georgia relations since the establishment of their strategic partnership.
Since the establishment of the China-Georgia strategic partnership in July 2023, bilateral trade has grown by 60%, solidifying Georgia’s role as a vital transit hub for China's Middle Corridor trade route.
The Free Trade Agreement has further enhanced economic cooperation, with Georgian exports such as wine, agricultural goods, and minerals gaining greater access to the Chinese market, says the MP.
Mezurnishvili emphasised that China had become an essential economic partner for Georgia, with the FTA playing a crucial role in boosting exports and creating new trade opportunities.
He pointed out that Georgia’s geographical position made it a key transit corridor for Chinese goods travelling to Europe.
Furthermore, he stressed the importance of expanding cooperation in renewable energy, infrastructure, and logistics, particularly as Georgia modernises its transport networks.
