Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Wednesday said Turkey and Georgia were important countries in the region, having significant strategic importance both regionally and globally.
In her remarks following a meeting with her Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan, Botchorishvili underlined the essential nature of the cooperation between the two countries in fulfilling their roles in the broader regional landscape.
“We have a successful history of implementing joint projects, which have, in a way, brought a positive energy to both our relations and our positioning. This positive, good experience should be further used, so that we can work closely together on other more significant projects. It is important that we cooperate with a focus on large-scale plans, have very close cooperation in various directions, and implement interesting projects, especially when the issue concerns connectivity”, the Georgian FM said.
Botchorishvili further added that the Georgian Government was greatly appreciating direct relations with neighboring countries, their support, and partnership.
“In this regard, our cooperation with Turkey is truly exemplary, something we highly appreciate and which has been ongoing for decades. I hope that through our friendship and cooperation, we will further develop the opportunities that Turkey and Georgia have in terms of connectivity and the development of the Middle Corridor. The very important regional role that Turkey plays in the region is crucial in this regard. In this direction, we are ready to work even more closely with our colleagues and friends”, she concluded.
