Georgian Vice Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Friday said the signing of a strategic partnership declaration with Uzbekistan would significantly strengthen cooperation between Georgia and Uzbekistan across a range of areas.
Commenting on Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s visit to Georgia, Botchorishvili described it as an important milestone in bilateral relations.
“The Uzbek President’s visit was an important step in relations between our two countries. During the visit, we signed a declaration on strategic cooperation, which will significantly improve and strengthen cooperation between our countries in various areas”, Botchorishvili said.
Botchorishvili also highlighted the importance of deepening relations with the countries of Central Asia, particularly in the context of regional connectivity.
“For Georgia, deepening and strengthening relations with the countries of Central Asia is a priority, especially in the context of connectivity. Georgia's role and potential are of interest to them as well. Important steps are being taken today for the development of these countries, and, naturally, it is important for us that these relations become stronger and deeper, and that strengthening these ties benefits the wider region. Accordingly, a presidential-level visit is, of course, the best opportunity to deepen relations between our countries in every direction”, she concluded.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Friday signed a Strategic Partnership Agreement, formally elevating bilateral relations to the level of a strategic partnership.
