Vasile Tarlev, a former Prime Minister of Moldova and current member of the Moldovan Parliament, on Sunday praised the Georgian Government for what he described as its efforts to protect the rights of minors and traditional values.
In an interview with Imedi TV, Tarlev noted that Moldova's Constitution guarantees equal rights for all citizens, but argued that what he called LGBT “propaganda” promotes values that are alien to Moldovan society.
“What equality? Moldova’s laws and Constitution protect the rights of every individual. If someone has their own personal lifestyle, they should keep it private. There is no need to take to the streets and present it as though it is the norm”, Tarlev said.
He claimed the values promoted through LGBT advocacy were foreign to the Moldovan people and described them as an externally imposed agenda.
Tarlev also criticised Moldova’s current leadership, saying it had shown weakness under external pressure.
“I believe the Georgian Government, which launched this process to protect the rights of minors and traditional values, deserves praise. Honor and respect them. We intend to hold consultations with the Georgian authorities, learn from their experience and apply a similar approach in Moldova”, he concluded.
