Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday expressed confusion over recent statements made by senior Moldovan officials, which he interpreted as a willingness to compromise their country’s sovereignty.
Speaking to journalists, Kobakhidze characterised these remarks as reflecting an “agent mentality” regarding national independence.
“It is incomprehensible that senior officials in Moldova would openly discuss surrendering their own sovereignty”, he stated. “This demonstrates, in general, how agents view the independence and sovereignty of their own nations”.
Kobakhidze further claimed that this same mindset exists within Georgia’s political opposition.
“The same attitude is held by the Georgian agents, the so-called opposition in Georgia. These parties, which are presented as opposition but are in fact agents, would be ready at any moment to sign away the sovereignty of Georgia. This is the nature of agents, their mentality. The same mentality is at work among agents in Moldova as well”, Kobakhidze concluded.
