Georgian finance minister Lasha Khutsishvili on Wednesday said that the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank has expressed strong interest in investing in both the Middle Corridor infrastructure and the energy sector following a meeting with the Bank.
In his remarks, Khutsishvili noted that discussions focused on ongoing and future projects that the AIIB is actively financing in Georgia.
He added that the parties agreed on priority areas where investments are expected to be made, particularly those aimed at strengthening the country’s connectivity.
“The priorities we agreed on concern enhancing Georgia’s connectivity. This includes the Middle Corridor infrastructure - road, railway, maritime, and air transport directions. The bank is also interested in the energy sector. We agreed that a special mission will visit Georgia in the near future, during which we will discuss specific projects that the bank will finance in the country”, the minister said.
