Georgia has been the fastest-growing country in Europe over the past five years, with an average annual economic growth rate of 9.3% between 2021 and 2025, said on Tuesday the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
Speaking at a roundtable discussion titled The Future of Investments on the sidelines of the 2026 World Governments Summit, Kobakhidze highlighted Georgia’s strong economic performance despite a challenging regional and global environment.
“The world is currently facing numerous challenges, including in the field of economic development. In this context, the situation is also quite difficult for Georgia, yet we have so far managed to ensure rapid economic growth. Over the past five years, by the numbers, Georgia has been the fastest-growing country in Europe. From 2021 to 2025, our average annual economic growth stood at 9.3%”, the PM said.
He also noted that, according to International Monetary Fund forecasts, Georgia ranks among the world’s top ten countries in terms of economic growth.
The Prime Minister attributed this performance primarily to political stability. Acknowledging the complex regional context, including the ongoing war in Ukraine, Kobakhidze said that Georgia has nonetheless maintained stability and peace.
“I would say that the country’s political context is quite complicated in the region. The war is ongoing in Ukraine, and the overall situation around us is not easy. However, despite these challenges, we have political stability and uninterrupted peace”, he concluded.
