Mariam Kvrivishvili, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, on Thursday said that the modernization of Georgia’s transport and logistics network was aimed at enabling the country to reliably ensure the uninterrupted transit of growing trade flows between Europe and Asia.
Speaking at the framework of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor and Connectivity Investment Forum and Ministerial on Transport of the European Union, Central Asia, the South Caucasus and the Black Sea Region, Kvrivishvili reviewed several priority areas, highlighting among them the important infrastructure projects being implemented in the country.
“The modernization of Georgia’s transport and logistics network is aimed at enabling the country to reliably ensure the uninterrupted transit of growing trade flows between Europe and Asia”, she said.
Minister also noted that in an era of global challenges and changing trade dynamics, regional transport connections and initiatives, including the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor and the Middle Corridor, had become reliable symbols of resilience and cooperation.
“To improve regional connectivity, develop transport systems, and accelerate logistics processes, Georgia has named the development of the Middle Corridor as an important priority and is implementing major infrastructure projects. These include the active construction of the East-West Highway, the development of the Anaklia deep-sea port project, and the modernization of the country’s transport and logistics network. For the Middle Corridor to become a competitive alternative to other global routes, it is essential to ensure timely, safe, and efficient shipments”, she concluded.
