Georgian Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili on Wednesday said the Black Sea submarine cable was a project of national importance for the Government, as it was a Georgian initiative.
In her remarks following the 12th ministerial of the Green Energy Corridor held in Baku, Kvrivishvili noted that the development of Black Sea submarine cable project was entering a new, very active phase.
"We have already completed the feasibility study, now we are moving on to the next phase, which is the seabed studies in order to actively begin the development of the Black Sea submarine cable project. In parallel with the Black Sea submarine cable project, which will have a capacity of up to 1,300 megawatts of electricity, of course, the Black Sea submarine cable in turn ensures the export of electricity generated in Georgia to the EU market”, Kvrivishvili said.
“Georgia continues to be a participant in the Green Energy Corridor, which is a regional integration project, which also ensures the pooling of electricity generated in our region, the pooling of Georgian-Azerbaijani resources and subsequent export of electricity to the EU market”, she concluded.
