Georgia has developed close, friendly, and strong partnership relations with China, a process that was reflected in the signing of a strategic partnership agreement between the two countries, said on Monday Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili.
In her remarks, Kvrivishvili noted that the partnership between Georgia and China has already produced tangible results in strengthening bilateral trade and economic relations across virtually all sectors, including trade, transport, logistics, tourism, and other areas of cooperation.
“We remain highly interested and optimistic about seeing the Chinese side participate in the Anaklia Deep Sea Port project alongside our other strategic partners and friendly countries”, the Minister said.
She further added that such cooperation would represent the most appropriate approach, under which Georgia would ensure that the port remains a Georgian asset while engaging partners in the role of operators from various countries, as well as private companies. These partners would contribute to attracting cargo flows, developing terminal infrastructure, and supporting the port’s future operations.
Kvrivishvili emphasised that the participation of multiple international partners would further strengthen the strategic importance and competitiveness of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port.
