Georgian Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili on Saturday presented the ongoing construction of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port to Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov and Minister of Transport Ilkhom Makhkamov during their visit to Georgia.
According to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, active construction of the port’s maritime infrastructure is currently underway.
The works are being carried out by the world-leading Belgian company Jan De Nul N.V. in partnership with a Georgian company.
The first phase of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port project is scheduled for completion in 2029.
Once operational, the port will have an annual handling capacity of at least 600,000 TEU and will be capable of accommodating large Panamax-class vessels, a capability that Georgia’s existing ports do not currently possess.
