Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Tuesday announced ambitious plans to develop sports infrastructure across the country, including multifunctional sports centres in every municipality and the construction of dozens of stadiums.
Speaking at the 2025 Best Athlete Award Ceremony, Kobakhidze outlined his Government’s vision for promoting both mass and high-performance sports in Georgia, emphasising the nationwide expansion of sports facilities.
“We have planned very important projects. Across the country, we want to develop sports infrastructure. In every municipality, multifunctional sports centres should be built, which will serve various sports disciplines. All of this will, of course, contribute to the development of both mass sports and high-performance sports”, he said.
The Prime Minister added that next year, the construction of 30 technical stadiums and 8 full-fledged stadiums in different cities across the country was planned.
“Next year, construction will begin on 30 technical stadiums across the country. This process will continue, and every municipality will have technical stadiums. Additionally, starting next year, the construction of full-fledged stadiums in 8 different cities will begin, which will also support the development of sports in all areas”, Kobakhidze concluded.
