The European Youth Olympic Winter Festival officially opened in Georgia's winter resort of Bakuriani.

The competition will be hosted in the modern sports infrastructure built in Bakuriani, Tbilisi, and Batumi.

Around 1,000 athletes from 45 countries will participate in eight sports: alpine skiing, biathlon, freestyle skiing, figure skating, ice hockey, short track, ski racing, and snowboarding.

The opening ceremony featured a traditional parade of athletes, followed by the Olympic oath taken by the participants.

At the end of the event, the Olympic flame was lit by Georgian alpine skier Anastasia Mirianashvili in Bakuriani's central park, marking the official opening of the Winter Youth Olympic Festival.
