Considering the current situation, transferring the Patriarch Ilia II abroad is not under discussion at this time, while the arrival of a foreign doctor will be ensured should the need arise, said on Tuesday the Georgian health minister Mikheil Sarjveladze.
In his remarks, Sarjveladze noted that heads of intensive care units from medical institutions and renowned intensivists have gathered to monitor the Patriarch’s health.
“The condition is practically without significant changes. In addition to standard classical methodology, we are trying to consider every possible opinion and expert advice that could be result-oriented. Perhaps there are suggestions that could improve certain procedures. You may call it a consultation or a council, whatever you like. Leading specialists from intensive care units and well-known intensivists are here. Consulting with them is one of the recommendations”, the minister said.
“Considering the current condition, the issue of transferring the Patriarch abroad is not on the table. Regarding bringing a foreign doctor, the moment such a need arises, it will be fully provided. Everything possible will be done to ensure immediate availability if required. I want to assure the public that everything necessary for the patient’s best treatment is fully in place. We are discussing ways to deploy additional resources to improve the condition. The person is in intensive care. This means that today, no one can be satisfied with his condition”, Sarjveladze concluded.
