Society

The International Labour Organisation (ILO) has updated global unemployment figures based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) indicator framework. The assessment is based on data from labour force surveys.
According to the revised estimates, Georgia’s unemployment rate improved to 10.2% in 2022, declined further to 9.6% in 2023, and reached 8% starting in 2024. This marks a new historic low for the country in the 21st century.
The data show that Georgia recorded its highest unemployment rate in the 21st century during the period from 2010 to 2012, when it stood at around 20%.
Since 2012, the unemployment rate has decreased by approximately 2.5 times. For the first time in the 21st century, unemployment in Georgia has fallen to a single-digit level.
