Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili has congratulated citizens on the New Year, highlighting the resilience shown by the Georgian people throughout 2025.
In his New Year’s address, the President stated that 2025 was a year of both hardship and spiritual strength, during which Georgians demonstrated their characteristic firmness, withstood unprecedented pressure, and defended the country’s sovereignty and national interests.
“Dear compatriots, today, at these special moments when the old year becomes history and the new one opens its doors, I address you with great pride, gratitude, and hope for the future. The year 2025 was a year of both trials and spiritual strength. Our people demonstrated the unique nature and resilience that define us, endured unprecedented pressure, and defended the country’s sovereignty and national interests, which means preserving our identity, faith, and traditions. It is with this spirit and boundless love for our homeland that we welcome 2026”, the President said.
Kavelashvili also extended New Year greetings to “Abkhaz and Ossetian brothers and sisters, compatriots living abroad, representatives of various professions working for the country’s better future, and the Georgian Orthodox Church”.
“With sincere love and longing, I wish a happy New Year to our Abkhaz and Ossetian brothers and sisters, as well as to our compatriots living abroad. I would like to extend special congratulations and gratitude to the Georgian Orthodox Church, to His Holiness the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, the spiritual pillar of our people and the guardian of faith, morality, and national unity. I congratulate representatives of all confessions, the loyal sons and daughters of our country. With great respect, I congratulate the Georgian Defence Forces and law enforcement officers who faithfully and with dignity protect the safety of our citizens and our homeland. I also congratulate and thank representatives of various professions who care for our country’s better future”, he continued.
Concluding his address, President Kavelashvili wished health, prosperity, and happiness to every citizen and every family, emphasizing unity, strength, justice, and peace in Georgia.
“Dear friends, I wish every compatriot and every family health, well-being, and happiness in a united, strong, just, and peaceful Georgia. May we always have faith that together we can overcome any difficulty. Happy New Year 2026! May God protect our homeland”, the President said.
