On the Feast of the Transfiguration, Bishop Jakob of Bodbe of the Georgian Orthodox Church delivered a sermon following the celebratory liturgy, addressing both the faithful and current events in the country.
“Today, unfortunately, the European Parliament and those demanding things from us that are wrong - repealing our laws or something else - remind me of the Bolsheviks”, he said.
“Why do I want relations with strong empires? Because I want to defend my identity. In all other matters, in what belongs to humanity as a whole, we must strive together and work for peace”, the Bishop continued.
He firmly stressed that the Georgian nation must not be used as a tool by others.
“Georgians will never become anyone’s plaything. Politicians may be, but I ask young people to think carefully about this. We must never abandon God, and we must hand over the Georgia brought to us by our ancestors to these beautiful young people”, he concluded.
