The Georgian government and Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze have extended their congratulations to the public on Didgoroba, the day commemorating the historic Battle of Didgori.
Both the Government's official Facebook page and the Prime Minister's personal page shared celebratory messages. The posts featured open cards with the text - “August 12, the day of victory in the Battle of Didgori, congratulations on Didgoroba”.
The Battle of Didgori, fought on this day in 1121, is one of the most significant events in Georgian history. It saw King David IV the Builder lead his army to a decisive victory over a large Seljuk coalition, a triumph that is widely seen as a symbol of Georgian military prowess, national unity, and freedom. The victory marked the beginning of the country’s medieval Golden Age.
Didgoroba is celebrated annually with various events, including cultural performances and historical reenactments, to honor the country's rich heritage and its legacy of strength.
