Georgian President highlights Pope Leo XIV’s emphasis on human dignity

Following a meeting with Pope Leo XIV, the President of Georgia Mikheil Kavelashvili said that the Pontiff had particularly emphasised the importance of fighting for the dignity of all individuals.

“We had a direct and heartfelt conversation. I also conveyed congratulations from the Patriarch of Georgia. The message from the Pope was truly significant - that global peace, human dignity, and Christian values are of paramount importance for everyone”, the President said.

President Kavelashvili stressed that in today’s world, the fight for identity, dignity, and faith remained critical.

“Today we have to fight for our identity, dignity, faith, and these are topics that are important for everyone in the world, human dignity is important for everyone. The Pope particularly underscored that we must stand up for the dignity of every individual”, he concluded.
