The Greek Parliament ratified, by majority vote, the agreement between the governments of Georgia and Greece on the mutual recognition and exchange of national driving licenses.
Greece becomes the third European Union member state to formalize such an agreement with Georgia, signifying strengthening ties between the nations, the Georgian foreign office said.
Levan Beridze, the Georgian Ambassador to Greece, noted that the ratification of the mentioned agreement by the Greek Parliament reaffirmed the high level of active cooperation and close ties between the two countries.
“Holders of valid driving licenses issued by either country will be able to exchange their licenses for equivalent ones in the other country without the need to pass theoretical or practical tests, provided they are legally residing in that country. This will facilitate their better integration into the local community”, Beridze said.
The agreement was initially signed on September 26, 2024, in Athens, between the governments of Georgia and Greece.
Following the completion of internal state procedures, the Greek Parliament ratified the agreement. It will come into effect once the Georgian side is officially notified of the ratification.
