Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Tuesday highlighted a two-billion project seeking to build brand-new infrastructure designated for both high-performance and mass sports.
Based on the joint endorsement by Kobakhidze and Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili awarded Orders of Honor and Honor Medals to the men’s national handball team members, coaches, and personnel, and the National Handball Federation's leadership.
The Head of Government congratulated the men's national handball team members, coaches, and personnel, and the National Handball Federation's representatives on receiving state awards and wished them success.
“For 30 years, we have been waiting to qualify for the European Championship, and it is your generation that has achieved this major success. This is just the beginning of a new stage that will bring even greater accomplishments”, the PM said.
Kobakhidze also extended his gratitude to the players, Handball Federation President Vakhtang Meipariani, Head Coach Tite Kalandadze, and all federation employees.
Kobakhidze highlighted his Government’s commitment to sports development, announcing a two-billion investment in modern sports infrastructure to support both elite and grassroots sports.
“One of our key priorities and tasks is to promote the development of sports infrastructure. Along with athletic success, the interest in sports grows, especially among children, which makes me really happy. At this point, however, our infrastructure cannot meet this growing demand. We have announced a two-billion project seeking to build brand-new infrastructure designated for both high-performance and mass sports. Under this project, special attention will be paid to the development of handball”, he concluded.
