Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday said over 70 percent of the roads connecting settlements in the Western Guria region had been cleared and efforts were ongoing to restore communication with all populated areas in response to the severe snowfall.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze noted that electricity had not been supplied to 35,000 subscribers, and now this number had been reduced to 10,000.
“Communication has been restored with all settlements. There are a few areas where communication was restricted since yesterday, and we are prioritising those regions. One of the main priorities is also the restoration of electricity. The main focus remains on the restoration of electricity, and this work will continue with the same intensity. Furthermore, food and medicine supplies will be provided on an ongoing basis, and emergency services are fully operational”, the Prime Minister said.
