Today marks 104 years since the Soviet occupation of Georgia. In commemoration of this date, the national flag was lowered to half-staff at the Government Administration building, as well as at other administrative bodies and Georgian diplomatic missions abroad.
February 25 is officially recognised as Soviet Occupation Day by a resolution of the Parliament of Georgia.
This day serves as a reminder of the Soviet Red Army’s invasion in 1921, which led to the loss of Georgia’s independence for several decades.
