UN Tourism Secretary General Shaikha Al Nuwais said on Friday that her visit to the Kutaisi Technology Hub came at an important time as preparations were underway for an Innovation Summit to be held in Kutaisi under the auspices of UN Tourism and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
The UN Tourism Secretary-General said she was pleased to visit the Kutaisi Technology Hub and TUMO, where she met with representatives of local startups.
“I am very pleased to be at the Kutaisi Technology Hub, specifically at TUMO. I had the pleasure of meeting with startups, which gave us some ideas and insights for the Innovation Summit, which will also be held in Kutaisi under the auspices of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)”, she said.
Al Nuwais highlighted that the meeting with startups prompted discussions on how international partners could provide additional support and visibility to Georgian innovative businesses.
“This meeting made us think about how we can support startups by bringing in relevant participants and universities, not only from Georgia but from our entire network, and how we can help raise the visibility of these startups. This is very important”, the UN Tourism Secretary General noted.
She emphasised the importance of providing startups with opportunities to establish new contacts and connections through the networks available through UN Tourism and WIPO.
“So, I think my visit to the Kutaisi Technology Hub was very timely as part of the preparations for this summit, which I am personally looking forward to with great interest”, she concluded.
