Georgian President pardons 226 individuals on Virgin Mary’s Dormition Day

Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili on Thursday pardoned 226 individuals in connection with the Dormition of the Virgin Mary.

The pardon covered 217 inmates serving prison sentences and six individuals serving non-custodial sentences, while the criminal records of three people were expunged.

The Presidential Administration said Kavelashvili exercised his constitutional authority to grant pardons based on the principles of humanism and the interests of the state.
