The Georgian government and Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze have congratulated citizens on Didgoroba, the annual celebration marking the victory in the Battle of Didgori, one of the most significant events in Georgian history.
“Congratulations on Didgoroba, the Day of Victory in the Battle of Didgori”, the messages read.
Didgoroba commemorates the Battle of Didgori, fought on August 12, 1121, when the army of King David IV, also known as David the Builder, defeated a much larger Seljuk force near Tbilisi.
The victory is widely regarded as a turning point in Georgia’s history and is celebrated annually as a symbol of national unity, strength and statehood.
