The second-largest airline in Scandinavia, Norwegian, has officially entered the Georgian aviation market by launching direct scheduled flights on the Copenhagen-Tbilisi-Copenhagen route, marking the first time in history that regular air connectivity has been established between the capitals of Georgia and Denmark.
The inaugural flight was operated using a Boeing 737-800 aircraft and carried 180 passengers, reflecting strong demand for the new connection.
The airline will operate the route twice weekly, providing regular access between Georgia and one of Northern Europe’s major aviation hubs.
The launch is the result of active negotiations between United Airports of Georgia and Norwegian over the past year. It is expected to boost both tourism and business travel between the two countries.
Prior to this, there were no direct scheduled flights between Tbilisi and Copenhagen.
In 2025, more than 20,000 visitors from Scandinavian countries travelled to Georgia, and the new connection is anticipated to further increase these numbers, making Georgia more accessible to Northern European tourists.
Norwegian, established in 1993, is one of Europe’s leading low-cost carriers and was named the best low-cost airline in Northern Europe by Skytrax in 2021.
