Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Sunday celebrated the ruling Georgian Dream party's landslide victory in the local self-government elections, framing it as a public endorsement of peace, national loyalty, and progress, while condemning foreign-backed violence by radicals.
In a social media message, Papuashvil declared the recent local elections a decisive referendum on trust in the ruling Georgian Dream party, which secured a record-breaking one million votes nationwide, including over 200,000 for Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze.
“Today’s municipal elections, normally a political event of lesser significance, have become a referendum on trust for the Government, which the Georgian Dream party won with confidence. 1,000,000 people cast their votes for the Georgian Dream party nationwide, including over 200,000 votes for Tbilisi mayor Kakha Kaladze. These represent record numbers for the Georgian Dream party in the past four consecutive municipal elections, both nationally as well as in Tbilisi”, Papuashvil said.

The Speaker attributed the victory to voters choosing peace over conflict and loyalty to Georgia over foreign influence, while promising to address the radical violence that erupted the previous night.
“We won this election together with the people who chose peace over war, motherland over foreign domination, and the future over the past. I am grateful to every voter and promise a firmer stand for our nation, our faith, and our country. As for the foreign-supported violence committed by the radicals last night, I will definitely write of that, and write a lot”, he concluded.
