Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Friday criticised the European Union’s role in global affairs, saying its influence as a global player had diminished as a result of what he described as an immature foreign policy.
Papuashvili was asked to comment on remarks by Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš concerning the war in Ukraine.
Babiš noted that calls for Europe to become involved in the process in some form were being heard with increasing frequency.
“The EU’s role as a global player has diminished. This is precisely the result of the immature foreign policy pursued by Kaja Kallas. No one takes the EU seriously”, Papuashvili said.
“It demands a seat at the negotiating table on the issue of Ukraine, yet no one invites it to the table, even though it should be a significant player in terms of both its economy and population. In reality, this is not the case”, he told journalists.
