Gia Volski, an MP from the ruling Georgian Dream party and the First Vice Speaker of Parliament, claimed on Wednesday that Brussels’ objective was to foment unrest and destabilisation in Georgia and ultimately trigger a revolutionary process in the country.
In an interview with Imedi TV, Volski said that a certain administrative apparatus within the European Union was making decisions on specific issues and topics independently of individual member states.
“We knew precisely that Brussels’ objective was to foment a certain degree of unrest and destabilisation and, in general, to trigger a revolutionary process. Such a plan did exist. I cannot say that every EU member state is aware of who Kordzi is, for instance, or why their representative dances in a way that is not coordinated with representatives of other countries”, Volski said.
“This is an example of how, within the European Union, in Brussels, there is a certain administrative apparatus that handles specific topics and issues on its own. Perhaps there is an instruction to apply this cold-blooded pragmatism in the confrontation, including in relations with Georgia. This reality exists, and a considerable amount of money has already been spent on creating it”, he continued.
Volski further argued that the Georgian public was highly intelligent and could see how opposition parties had transformed into something resembling partisan factions, resulting in a significant decline in their approval ratings.
“It is not essential for the public to feel great sympathy for specific figures or to assess the past in light of the sadistic nature of the rule that existed. Many people have neither knowledge of nor an emotional connection to the war or the cruelty our country endured. Yet they clearly see the situation as it stands today”, he noted.
“This gives rise to all the methods used to mislead young people and strengthen a certain sect that constantly claims Georgia has supposedly shifted into the orbit of Russian policy”, the official concluded.
