A new dispute has reportedly emerged within Georgia’s opposition, this time involving Nika Gvaramia and Nika Melia over the future of the Ahali party.
According to reports, Ahali could split into two factions in the coming days, with one group aligned with Melia and the other backing Gvaramia. The two sides are also reportedly at odds over control of the party’s brand, logo and electoral number.
The reported disagreement was allegedly sparked by Melia, who is currently in prison, becoming dissatisfied with Gvaramia and accusing him of deliberately undermining the party.
Gvaramia, however, denied the reports in an interview with Imedi TV.
“You know that we are two teams that came together. Nothing extraordinary has changed in this situation. If anything happens, it will be public in any case, because we have no intention of hiding anything. We are two teams that came together. In fact, there are four of us in the coalition, right? No dramatic situation has emerged in this regard”, Gvaramia said.
