The United States Embassy in Georgia on Saturday marked the 32nd anniversary of the partnership between the US state of Georgia’s National Guard and the Georgian Defence Forces, highlighting decades of joint training and defence cooperation.
In a social media post, the Embassy marked what it described as a “special military friendship” between the two sides.
“Today we mark the 32nd anniversary of a special military friendship. On October 3, 1994, the partnership between the US state of Georgia’s National Guard and the Georgia Defence Forces was established. Over the years, joint training, defence cooperation, and serving side by side in different parts of the world have forged strong bonds between our service members”, the statement said.
The Embassy also lauded service members from both countries who have contributed to the partnership.
“Today, we honour the thousands of Georgian and American service members whose dedication has helped create one of the strongest and longest-lasting partnerships in the world between the United States and its partners”, the Embassy concluded.
