Irakli Kadagishvili, the Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s Regional Policy and Self-Government Committee, said on Thursday that the domestic opposition had only itself to blame for the low ratings reflected in the results of a survey by the International Republican Institute (IRI).
In his remarks, Kadagishvili described the opposition’s poor results as a verdict delivered by the Georgian people.
“This is the verdict the Georgian people have delivered [to the opposition] based on their own actions. Therefore, this is a case where they have only themselves to blame. They blame each other, and now they are blaming IRI as well, claiming they did not commission the study or are not familiar with the results. All of this is merely an attempt to hide the obvious, and the reality is already perfectly clear to the public”, the official said.
According to the IRI poll, the opposition has reached a historic low, with some parties receiving 1% support and others 2%. Lelo failed to even reach the margin of error. Against this backdrop, the ruling Georgian Dream party has 55% support with vote allocation and 36% without allocation.
