Archil Gorduladze, the Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s Committee on Legal Affairs, on Thursday commented on the opposition’s decision to conceal the IRI poll, saying that the “collective United National Movement”, which “stands on the side of war, hardship and a rain of fire”, could not receive the support of Georgian society.
He said this was why the “collective United National Movement” had sought to hide the poll results.
“It was simply made public that, yes, for the absolute majority of this country’s population, what matters most is peace, the opportunity for economic progress, and taking pragmatic steps”, he said.
Gorduladze added that publicising the poll results did not suit the “collective National Movement”, which was why it had “retreated and gone into hiding”, as it could not admit that its efforts to undermine “one of this country’s main achievements - peace and the country’s development built upon it” were failing.
“Of course, they cannot say this either to their supporters or to their patrons, and now they are ‘hiding in the bushes’”, he concluded.
According to the IRI poll, the opposition has reached a historic low, with some parties receiving 1% support and others 2%. Lelo did not even reach the margin of error. Against this backdrop, Georgian Dream has 55% support with allocation and 36% without allocation.
